This is an easy way to prepare pork chops. After browning them the chops bake in mushroom onion gravy. The recipe can be doubled.
- 4 pork chops, bone in or bone out
- 1 medium onion, sliced thin
- 1 can of condensed mushroom soup
- 1 or more cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Heat a tablespoon or more of cooking oil in a deep oven proof frying pan. Brown the pork chops in the hot oil. Remove the chops and set aside. Sauté the onion slices in the frying pan adding more oil if needed. Lower the heat and stir in the can of soup plus a can of water scrapping the bottom of the pan to loosen the brown bits. Stir in the garlic and Worcestershire sauce. Place the chops back in the pan, turn to coat with the soup mixture. Add more water if needed. Cover the pan and bake in the oven for 45 minutes.
The soup based sauce can be used as gravy. Serve with mashed potatoes or cooked buttered rice along with a vegetable dish or salad.
If using more than 4 pork chops use two cans of soup and more seasoning.
Pork steak can be fixed this way.
