Homemade Noodles Italian
This is a recipe that I first made in the 1970s. A name brand used to have a boxed dinner called Noodles Italian that my children liked a lot. It became very expensive after a while so I devised this recipe as a less expensive alternative.
• 1 package broad noodles or homemade noodles
• 1 can of tomato soup
• 1 large onion, finely chopped
• 1 teaspoon or more of sweet basil
• 1 teaspoon of oregano
• 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
• 2 teaspoons of sugar
Boil the noodles in a large pot until done. Drain the noodles and mix in a bit of butter to keep them from sticking together. Stir in the can of soup and the seasonings. Add a half soup can of water and simmer about 20 minutes. You can add browned hamburger or other leftover meat. If you do add hamburger brown the onions with the meat. It can be put in a casserole dish and baked for about 30 to 35 minutes. You may need to add a bit more water if you bake it.
If you are lucky enough to grow herbs in your garden use fresh herbs in this recipe. Top with grated cheese.
